The 12 Days of Christmas

I really want to know why everyone is taking down their Christmas decorations and has stopped playing their Christmas music. Christmas isn't over!! Has no one heard of the 12 days of Christmas? Contrary to popular belief the 12 days of Christmas are not before Christmas they are in fact after. Christmas is not officially over until January the 6. You want to know why we have the 12 days of Christmas and what it is we celebrate at the end? Well, I will tell you. The 12 days of Christmas are counting down to Epiphany (which is Jan. 6). 12 days after Christmas is when we celebrate the 3 wise men or the 3 kings visit to the baby Christ child. So, don't stop those carols or take down those decorations just yet. Continue to celebrate Christmas to its fullest for the whole 12 days.

I haven't posted in a few days due to the fact that our internet has been down since Sunday I think. We called the internet company and were told that the reason for our lack of internet was either a) because our dish was frozen, b) the tower was frozen, or c) the tower didn't have power. Whatever the reason was I now have internet. YAY me!! This past week has been crazy. We have been hit with snow and ice for the past two weeks and it is finally starting to melt. I think we have even broken records with the amount of snow we have gotten. I have some amazing pictures of the snow. I hope everyone has a very Happy Christmas!

Snow

It is now officially winter in my area. We had a pretty big snow yesterday and my brother didn't go to school today, it was rather annoying. I have pictures from this morning.

I have officially finished my first term as a college student!!! I'll hopefully know my grades soon but I'm just glad to have survived. I made it through my french final today even with the on sets of a cold which where impending my studying for said final. So now that I am on Christmas Break I'm going to be finding amazingly cool things to share with everyone.

First up is ThreadBangers!! I found this website awhile ago but I just recently got back into watching the videos and such. I wanted to talk about onr of my favorite episodes. I'm almost done. I have one more final on Thursday!!!! YAY!!!!! That means that Christmas Break is in sight!! It also means that I have to pack my stuff to take home. I'm not looking forward to that. I hope everyone has a great Christmas Break!!

The Little Mermaid

I have finished up with all of my classes and now all I have to do is take 3 finals. One on Monday, one on Tuesday, and one on Thursday.

So to celebrate I've been listening to The Little Mermaid The Musical CD. It's totally awesome. It has all of the original songs in it and many many more. My favorite new ones (you didn't think I could decide on only one did you) are .................. Ok I pretty much like all of them I don't have a favorite, I like them all. I really like the ones that they created for Ursulla and her eels. I've almost listened to it completely through twice. I can't think of anything more exciting to do. Well, I can but at the moment this is pretty exciting.

NERD!!!!

I am a self proclaimed nerd. What else would you call a person who sits around all day either reading or watching movies or reruns of TV shows. This I think tops the cake I want to go to The Leap Back 2009: A Quantum Leap Convention. Now most people probably don't even know what Quantum Leap is let alone want to go to the convention. Now to inform those that don't know.

"Doctor Sam Beckett led a group of top scientists into the desert to research his theory that a man could time travel within his own lifetime. Unfortunately, in order to save his funding, he was forced to enter the accelerator prematurely and vanished. He then found himself in someone else's body with partial amnesia. I hope that helps for those that don't know what I'm talking about. I was first introduced to this series by my mom. It was late one night and mom and I were watching TV. She turned it to the channel that had this on and was like "o lets watch this" I'm like whatever but I ended up falling in love with it. It's one of those TV shows that you really don't have to watch them in order, it's nice to, but there's not much of a plot that runs from one episode to the next because in every episode Sam "leaps" into a new time and a new person.

Don't you just love my way of avoiding studying. I do too.

Winter Break

I am so looking forward to Winter Break. I plan on reading more books in the first week then I have in the past month. What I'm going to read I don't know yet but I'm already looking for books to read so if you have any recommendations let me know.

I'm almost done with my classes. I only have 1 class left in for all of my classes. I'm pretty excited except for the fact that I still need to study for all of my finals. I finalized what I was going to say in my interview for my French class. That's one less thing to worry about.

Over Winter Break I'm hoping to really clean my room. I technically did before I moved into my dorm but I've been going in and out of house most weekends so it's become almost even more of a disaster then before I "moved" out. There's also the fact that my moms been cleaning the house so she keeps putting things that she thinks are mine in my room (yes most of the stuff is mine but there's always the few things that arn't mine). That's probably what I will be doing for the first few days of break.

And so it begins

Today started Dead Week which should just be a bundle of fun. I'm starting to really study and it isn't going so well. I'm no longer really worried about my Lit final but I'm really nervous about my oral exam in French. I have to do an interview type thing with a partner that I our professor picked for us. I'm meeting with her later today to discuss what we're going to ask each other and make sure that we're prepared because I'm determined to do well on my French final. I should have plenty of time to study for it seeing as next week for finals I have my Lit and Dance finals on Monday and my French final on Thursday.

I realised....

I've realized that I get excited over a lot of things. Today I got excited over seeing Twilight for the second time. I really should be focusing on studying for my finals but movies are so much better to think about then finals. I'm not looking forward to my lit final. I think it's mostly going to be on Frankenstein, which I didn't like all that much. My professor gave us a few questions that he said "might" be on the final. Most of the questions are about the myth of Prometheus and how it helps us understand the story and how the Creature's education helps us understand him and his position. I'm not looking forward to that. I'm also not looking forward to my French final but my teacher said as long as nothing tragic happens on my final I should get an A.

I forgot to say that I finished one of the books that I wanted to finish this weekend which I think is a good thing. I finished A Wallflower Christmas yesterday afternoon. It was rather amusing because I read most of it in one sitting. It took me a little longer then I would have hoped because I kept looking up from the book to check the score of whatever football game my dad was watching. When I was almost done with the book my friend was shocked that I had just sat down and read the entire book. My defense was that it wasn't that long of a book (a little over 200 pg if I remeber correctly) and she was like I don't think I've finished a book since the last Harry Potter and so it was my turn to be in shock. I could never go that long without reading/finishing a book.

Christmas!!!

It is officially the day after Thanksgiving. I have eaten my turkey and watched to much football. I've even eaten most of the leftovers. You know what this means? The Christmas Season is officially finally here. I've been waiting since Halloween to play my Christmas music and watch all of my favorite Christmas movies. (I cheated a little on the movies. I watched Holiday in Handcuffs on ABC family last Monday.) I can guarantee you will be hearing about a few of my favorite Christmas movies and my favorite songs before the season is up.

Actually I think I'm going to do that right now.

Give Thanks!

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving which means lots of good food or at least good smelling food. I want to say that there is alot I am thankful for this year and I hope that next year is just as good.

At this very moment I am most thankful that the house I'm staying in has internet. YAY!!! I didn't think it was going to so I (sadly) was rather depressed at the idea but when I got here I checked to make sure that it didn't and it did. YAY internet!!

I'm probably not going to post tomorrow unless I get really bored and read a book (which I haven't really done it awhile). I wouldn't put it past me to read a book tonight. I do have two books that I hope to read over my mini vacation.

Proposals Gone Wrong

So apparently the guy that originally proposes to Jo wasn't Laurie and was Teddy. I have no idea where Laurie came from. He has to be a main romantic character in some movie and/or book that I've read but I don't know and it's going to bug me until I remember. Anywho, this is a really funny video.

An Old Fashioned Thanksgiving

Last night I watched the cutest movie called An Old Fashioned Thanksgiving on Hallmark Channel. It is based off of Louisa May Alcott's short story of the same name. It actually kind of reminded me of Little Women in some ways, especially with Tilly and Gad. When Gad proposes and Tilly says she's not ready I almost burst because I didn't wan them to end up like Laurie and Jo in Little Women but then Tilly rethinks her decision and says yes (thank goodness).

Twilgiht

I saw it! It was actually pretty good for a book to movie adaption. I thought that they tried and hurried it a bit instead of focusing on some details but I do understand that they couldn't do every single part of the book. I think they did a good job with the dazzling but was disappointed it wasn't in the meadow. I liked the chase and how they did it, even if I wanted to see the airport. I thought that at some points Edward was very un-Edward in how angry he got but this is just my opinion and maybe in the book I just didn't imagion him getting as angry as Stephenie Meyer thought he was. I really enjoyed all of the music but then again I've been listening to little else since I got the cd a little over a week ago. I hope that if you choose to go see it that you arn't dissapointed.

AAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So yes I am very excited I got my tickets for this afternoons showing of Twilight. I am very excited to see it. I'm not going in with very much expectations because I don't want to be to disappointed if I don't like it. I will probably write my opinion on it later today or tomorrow at some point. Also, being the weird person that I am, I went and saw the line for the midnight premiere because I was a little sad that I wasn't going (even though as I was looking at it I thought of going and buying a ticket right then and there and getting in line). The line at one theater wasn't as long as I was expecting but the lines (yes, lines) at the other theater where crazy. They had line going around both sides of the building with signs for what theater you where in determining what line you where in. It was crazy. So I hope everyone is pleased with the movie when all is said and done.

Bond. James Bond.

I went and saw the new James Bond, Quantum of Solace, with my brother this afternoon and it was actually better then I expected. I loved the beginning because it took place in Sienna, Italy. I went to Italy for spring break 2007 and we went to Sienna and I have pictures of where they shot the movie and it made me want to go back. Also, another good thing about it was that Gemma Arterton from Lost in Austen. Yes she wasn't in it very much but still I liked her. I liked the fact that we could have a main Bond girl that doesn't have to sleep with 007. Overall it was a very good movie but make sure you know what happened in Casino Royale because Quantum of Solace is a sequel.

I want...

I want to write a book. Yes it is very ambitious. I really want to do it thought even if I have no idea how to go about doing it. I've written a few short stories and am wondering if I should continue them/expand them or if I should start a new story. If I start a book should I outline what's going to be in each chapter or if I should just wing it. Hmmm.... I should think about this. I know I can start to plan it during Thanksgiving break since I hopefully won't have much homework.

Fairy Tales

I love fairy tales! I always have. My favorite thing growing up was watching Faerie Tale Theater with my cousin and grandma. I've recently been really into mermaids and I found this promo for Disney and it has Micheal Phelps and Julianne Moore as mermaids. I hadn't realized that it had been a week since I had last posted. O well, I've remembered.

In the last few days I have become very obsessed with musicals. I have been listening to my cd's of Aida, Rent, Singing in the Rain, Hairspray, The Little Mermaid, Legally Blond, and what ever else is on my computer. If you've never heard of/never realized they were a Broadway musical you should totally look into listening/seeing them.

I'm very excited for this weekend. I'm going to see Quantum of Solace with my brother! Yay for James Bond!!

The Pie!!

I DID IT!!! Yesterday night for dinner I made a sweet potato pie. It turned out all right, a little on the watery side and sweeter then I was planning but I did it. It wasn't burnt or undercooked and it was my first pie. I'm very proud of myself.

Isn't it beautiful! It kind of sloshed over on the part infront when I put it in the oven. I had a little left over so I put it in a little dish without a crust. I hope you enjoy looking at it.

Cold

The season of colds and illness is back in full force. That's right school has been in session for a while and the rain has begun. No more outside or open windows and no more sun (at least not in the normal amount).

I've been out with a cold or virus of some sort. It started out in my throat and then you'd think it would of moved to my chest but no it moved up to my nose and there it has remained, not fun. It has been especially hard since I had mid-terms last week and it made it a bother to study. I have been downing tea, water, cough drops, and Tylenol. I want my normal life back!

I have officially only one midterm left. I'm so excited but that also means that I have to study for it this afternoon after I do my french homework. I hope everyone's doing well and arn't to stressed over whatever it is your worried about. I'll be back to normal posts once I have time to read a book or watch a movie. Even thought I went and saw Persepolis last night but hey it was a requirement for my french class. We have to go see 2 french movies in the french movie series this term and then write a few paragraphs about it. I'll write about the movie when I get the chance.

Mid-terms

I have mid-terms this week in 3 of my classes so I might be a little slow on the posting this week. I have my first test tomorrow, I'm not worried about that one. It's the one on Wednesday and Thursday that I'm worried about. I've already studied a bit for them but I'm so nerves I hope that doesn't effect how I do. I probably should at least look at my notes for my test tomorrow even thought that's the least of my worries right now. I would like to leave you with a picture that makes me smile.

The Duchess

I went and saw The Duchess this afternoon with my mom and one of my friends. It was actually a really good movie. Towards the end it was getting a little slow but then it ended, rather abruptly I might add. For those of you that don't know the movie was about Georgiana Cavendish, Duchess of Devonshire. It followed a good portion of her life. I absolutely loved the costumes for this movie. They were amazing. There were a few that stood out to me but I can't remember what scenes they were. I would recommend this movie for anyone who likes history or costume dramas.

November

So I know I'm probably like every other person of the female variety but I am really excited for the premiere of Twilight. I absolutely loved the book and I hope the new movie is if nothing else almost as good. I think November is going to be a good month. Not only does Twilight come out at the end of the month but the new James Bond comes out on the 14th and then you have Thanksgiving break which means that I don't have class but it probably also means that I'll have lots of homework over the break. I'm excited for a break where I can go home and sleep in my own bed instead of my dorm.

So I didn't post yesterday but consider this your yesterday post and hopefully I will post again today. Last night was a new episode of Pushing Daisies. The episode itself was pretty good but I loved the ending, poor Ned I don't know how he could stand it. I can't find a clip on youtube but if and when I do I will definitely post it.


So this is a video from the Scandinavian Festival in Junction City, Oregon. It's pretty amazing if I do say so myself. My cousin use to be in this group so we would go almost every year. This is my favorite dance. It's called Little Man in a Fix and beware of flying shoes. Hehe.

Pie!

Today has been a long day. I've kept thinking it was Wednesday. I know it's not and I've been reminded countless times but I still think it's Wednesday. It has made for a very long day. On the bright side though tomorrow is Wednesday and hopefully I won't have that much homework because Pushing Daisies is on!!

I was looking at the Pushing Daisies website on ABC.com and came across the menu that they have at the Pie Hole and it looks delicious, really, I now want pie. When I go home next I should bring a recipe and bake a pie like they do at the Pie Hole. The Sweet Potato Pie looks really good. I should totally ask my mom if we can make this when I go home in a few weeks. It would be so much fun.

Monday Morning

I hate Monday mornings! I really should learn to go to bed at a decent hour, I try but it never really works out so I just kinda give up. It might also have to do with the fact that my friend and I were watching Pushing Daisies till 11ish. She's been watching the 2nd season with me but had yet to see the 1st season so we decided we needed to watch it. I had forgotten how hilarious it was and how much I love Chuck's outfits/costumes. I just love the entire thing. Well, I'm pretty excited for Wednesday nights episode, only 3 more days (yes I'm including today). If you haven't watched Pushing Daisies yet I would recommend it, highly.

I'm going crazy!!

I went home on Friday to do my laundry. While at home I was channel surfing and landed on this movie called Head Over Heels and it was really good, at least the part that I watched was. There was some parts that I didn't get because I didn't see the beginning. So, I was looking to see if it was on youtube and it was and I downloaded it but when I went to watch it the sound didnt' work and it kept stopping even though it was fully loaded. I'm hoping that it will work tomorrow because I want to see how it all began.

WOW!!

I realized I hadn't posted in a day or so but I didn't realize it had been this long. Well I've been rather busy this week with school and all. Yesterday I had my first french test of the term and I wanted to do well so I was studying most of Sunday and Monday and guess what, I did really well. Today in my lit class we started by talking about what Gothic was. It reminded me of the book that I finished the other day, Northpointe Chalet by Debra White Smith. Yes it's by the same author as Possibilities. It was almost as good as Possibilities, but then again I like Persuasion better then Northanger Abbey. I don't think I really need to describe what this book's about because its the same plot as Northanger Abbey which is a classic. Well that's all for today.

Mr. Darcy

I am debating whether or not if someone came up to me dressed like Mr. Darcy, talking like Mr. Darcy, looking like Mr. Darcy, and acting like Mr. Darcy if I would give him the time of day or just think that he was crazy and walk away.

Now I think it might depend on where I was at. If I was, say in the grocery store it might kinda freak me out but if it was in the park and I was sitting on a bench or in the grass I don't think it would be that odd. This is a totally bizarre thing to even consider.

While watching Jane Austen related material on youtube I came across this video, Just watch it and laugh.

Dance

Today was an interesting day. I learned how to do the dance Gathering Peascods, think Jane Austen dancing. I know it's awesome, well kind of. I happened to really enjoy doing it. Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day

Who would of thought that a movie with the title Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day would be a good movie. Well I am here to tell you that it was one of the most enjoyable movies I have seen in awhile. From beginning to end I could not anticipate what was going to come next. From the first scene with Delysia (Amy Adams) I was hooked. Her character is such a whirl wind of activity and adventure. Then much to my surprise in marches Lee Pace (Ned from Pushing Daisies) and the deal was sealed, this was an amazing movie. To make it even better was Ciarán Hinds (Caption Wentworth from Persuasion) as Joe.

The entire of the film happens in a 24 hour period, hence Miss Pettigrew lives for a day. The movie opens with Miss. Pettigrew being dismissed from yet another governess position without so much as severance pay. She then gains another employment assignment as a social secretary. Upon arriving at her employers apartment she is launched into the caotic and glamourous world of the American actress and singer, Delysia Lafosse. Over the next 24 hours, Guinevere and Delysia will empower each other to discover their romantic destinies.

Novel Romance

A few weeks ago before I moved into my dorm I decided I wanted to rent a movie, so I get in my car and I drive to Hollywood Video. When I get there I have no idea what to rent. I'm wondering around and decide I want a comedy. While walking through the comedy I notice this movie called Novel Romance and I pick it up. The cover was interesting and the description on the back didn't look bad, so I rented it.

I ended up watching it almost the second I got home. It wasn't quite what I was expecting but I it was a good movie.

" Max Normane’s eye for the undiscovered literary gem is famous. Unfortunately, Max hasn’t yet been able to shape her own narrative into the most enviable of stories. Once having hoped to live a sweeping romantic epic, Max instead has gone through a series of unfulfilled romances. Finished!!!

I finished two books in the past few days. First I finished Possibilities by Debra White Smith. It was a modern day adaption of Persuasion. Overall it was good. I really liked the end but then again that's generally how it works.

The other book I finished was the new Julia Quinn book, Mr. Cavendish, I Presume. It wasn't my favorite book of Julia Quinn's but I liked it all the same. I liked how you got the different perspective of the other book. I can't wait for her next book.

North and South

Yesterday afternoon I made the mistake of starting to watching the first episode of North and South. So last night I told myself I was only going to watch episode 2. Well I couldn't stop there so I finished the other two episodes. It all ended about 3am this morning. That's what I get for starting a mini-series that late at night.

Anyways, to talk about the actual movie/mini-series. Now, when you hear the title North and South you probably think about the epic Civil War series but this isn't that movie. This is a story about a family, the Hales, that move from the south of England to the more industrial North of England. At the center of this series is the relationship between Margaret Hale and John Thorton. As Margaret gradually settles in Milton her social conscience awakens and she befriends some of the local mill workers, learning about who they are and about their problems. At times the plot moves rather slowly but I don't think that affected the quality of the movie. It was amazing, I almost liked as much as some Jane Austen movies (shocker I know).

I just had to write about one of my favorite shows, Pushing Daisies. The season premiere was tonight and I though it was amazing. I really hope that the rest of the season is just as good. For those of you who have never seen or heard of Pushing Daisies here you go: "Ned possesses the unique talent of being able to bring the life to dead merely by touching them. However, the person may remain alive only for one minute, or else someone else dies for them. A second touch will render the person dead again, unable to be revived. Through his connections with PI Emerson Cod, Ned revives his childhood sweetheart, Chuck. The trio, aided occasionally by Olive Snook, helps solve the mysteries of various murders, whose murderer is often surprising."

Wanderlust

So, I finally finished Wanderlust by Chris Dyer. "Headstrong Kate Bogart is married to her career as a travel writer until she meets globetrotting British journalist Miles Maxwell in Italy. Falling in love with Miles, just as her former husband, Jack McTavish, decides that he would like to rekindle their relationship, sends our hapless heroine on a personal journey around the world searching for love and happiness while still trying to meet her deadlines. This epistolary first novel chronicles the pleasures and pitfalls of the single girl who has it all-she just needs to decide with whom to share it." Doesn't that look like fun? Well to me it was!! I love most of this book occasionally it was slow but over all it was good. I love the idea of being a travel writer.

Lost in Austen

So, I just finished watch a mini-series called Lost in Austen. It was amazing!!! Here's the plot description straight from ITV.com. "Amanda Price - the frustrated romantic who lives for reading and adores the characters in her Jane Austen books. Then one day she discovers a gateway in her flat and ends up being transported to her favourite world, the world of Pride and Prejudice. But is the “true” story in danger of being thrown off track by her presence?"

Now doesn't that sound like fun? I thought so which is why I watched on the ever wonderful and ever available YouTube. Even though it wasn't really that complete it had most of the mini-series. Over all I really liked it once you got over the fact that this is kinda bizarre.

So tomorrow hopefully I'll have finished Wanderlust. Until then I hope everyone is doing well and happy.

First Day

Today was the first day of classes of freshman year. I thought they went rather well. I hope the rest of the semester goes that way but who knows. At the moment I am in the middle of reading a book called Wanderlust. I can't remember the author but so far it is about a travel writer who is having problems with her love life. She can't decide between her ex-husband Jack or a dashing British fellow named Maxwell. I'll update you on how it ends. Well, not on how it ends but whether or not I liked it.

I can't find my vhs copy of this movie but I finally was able to buy the entire trilogy on dvd. It also has amazing bonus features.
